Horicon Marsh

The Horicon Marsh is the largest freshwater cattail marsh in the United States. Located in southeastern Wisconsin, this vast wetland is less than an hour's drive from both Milwaukee and Madison. While this marsh in renowned for its migrant flocks of Canadian Geese, it is also home to more than 260 species of birds which have been sighted over the years.

The Horicon Marsh was carved by glaciers, harnessed and hampered by man, and finally given back to nature. Hundreds of thousands of waterfowl each year and tens of thousands of humans who enjoy their visit are better off for it.

The famous avian resting place that sprawls over 31,653 acres, mostly in Dodge County, hasn't changed much in recent decades, but in the long scheme the Horicon Marsh Wildlife Area has undergone numerous face lifts.
